a. What’s the difference between HP 64 and HP 64XL ink cartridges?

There’s no difference in shape and size between HP 64 and HP 64 XL since they use the same cartridge and both install in the same manner in your printer. Both also contain the same type of ink material. But HP 64 XL cartridges are high yield versions and contain more ink.

The HP 64 XL Black ink cartridge has a page yield of 600, while the standard HP 64 Black ink cartridge has a page yield of 200. The HP 64 XL Color ink cartridge has a page yield of 480, while the standard HP 64 Color ink cartridge has a page yield of 160.

b. What HP printer models take HP 64 ink?

The HP 64 / 64 XL ink cartridge works with popular models like the HP Envy 6255, 7155, 7855, 7800, 7820, and more. You can view the complete list of HP 64 ink compatible printers here at YoyoInk.

c. How long does HP 64 ink last?

Your HP 64 cartridges generally last somewhere between 18-14 months, depending on your work and storage environment. The shelf life varies according to major elemental factors. To make the ink cartridges last longer, you must store the tanks in an environment with normal temperature. Too much cold or heat will affect your  ink cartridge’s quality and shorten its shelf life.

Setting your printer cartridges at an upright position prevents ink from accumulating at one side which can cause problems along the way. We recommend keeping your HP cartridge inside its sealed packaging and taking it only once its ready for use. The plastic cover makes the cartridge nozzles moist to prevent it from drying.

d. Are HP 63 and 64 ink cartridges interchangeable?

No. Unfortunately, HP 63 and HP 64 cartridges are not interchangeable. You cannot use HP 63 ink cartridges to printers than use only HP 64 because they will not fit, and vice versa.

e. Will the remanufactured HP 64XL ink work with my printer?

Of course! Our remanufactured HP 64XL ink cartridge was manufactured with the industry’s strict guidelines in mind and matches the specifications of their branded counterparts. Our ink cartridges are refurbished original HP cartridges that have been added with new parts to make sure they install seamlessly into your printer.

You can enjoy the same print quality and functionality from our remanufactured cartridges as the OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) brands.

  1. Lift the scanner unit of your printer and let the carriage move toward the center.
  2. Gently pull out the empty cartridge on the carriage and put it aside for recycling.
  3. Take the new cartridge from its packaging, then remove the yellow tape on top of it – this exposes the vent hole and enables the cartridge to work with the machine.
  4. Insert the new cartridge into the vacant slot then slowly press on it until it clicks into position.
  5. Close your printer’s top cover and let it initialize for a few minutes before you can start printing.
