How to Change your HP Officejet 6971 Ink Cartridges Refill

  1. Turn the HP Officejet PRO 6971 printer on by connecting it to an appropriate power supply and pressing the Power button.
  2. Open the printer’s ink cartridge access door. The cartridge will move to the cartridge access area so don't proceed until it becomes idle.
  3. Press the tab in front of the empty ink cartridge to free it, then pull out the unit from the slot.
  4. Unpack the new HP Officejet PRO 6971 Ink Cartridge, then pull out the orange pull-tab backward.
  5. Hold the new ink cartridge, then turn the orange protective tape to remove it from the device.
  6. Bend the tab away from the new ink cartridge, position the device such that the contacts are facing downward, then match the color dot on the carriage with the label color.
  7. Put the ink cartridge into the slot, then gently push the ink cartridge down until it locks into position.
  8. Close the printer’s ink cartridge access door to finish the installation.
